Students in Ms. Christoff’s class became Disease Detectives! Each student received a case file about a person who was sick. Using background information about the person’s lifestyle, how the disease spread, the doctor’s recommended treatment, and ways to prevent future infection, students analyzed the evidence to determine whether the illness was caused by a bacterium, virus, parasite, or fungus. Through critical thinking and problem-solving, students used scientific evidence to identify the most likely pathogen responsible for each case.
This week, our fifth graders in Mrs Melvin + Mrs Priest's class put their gardening skills to work! We are thankful to have our students plant these beautiful mums! 🌼🪴
Our 8th-grade student and Student Advisory Representative, Shamiha, shared valuable student insight with Mr. Tom Nevels, A+ Schools Network Director! We are proud of Shamiha for representing our students and helping ensure student voices are heard as we continue to grow and improve at CSD. 🔎💙
📚💙A big thank you to Lucas McNeill with the Rotary Club for donating dictionaries to our third-grade students! We appreciate your generosity and your commitment to supporting literacy and learning in our community. 💙💛CSD: Dress Like a Vocabulary Word Day! Get ready to bring learning to life at Clarkton School of Discovery on October 30! 🎉 In honor of Ms. Erin Wakefield, we’re celebrating her love for students, our school, our community, and seeing learning in action! 📚✨
👕🧠 Students can choose a fun vocabulary word, get creative with their outfits and props, and show us what their word means!
📖 Check out our suggested vocabulary word lists for K–2, grades 3–5, and grades 6–8 for inspiration!
⭐ A few important reminders:
💙 Students should be able to ARTICULATE their vocabulary word and its meaning.
💛 The vocabulary word and definition must be visible on attire and/or props.
🚫 Halloween costumes are not permitted unless they follow the guidelines for Dress Like a Vocabulary Word Day.

💙 FREE for students dressed as a vocabulary word who choose to participate in the parade!
💵 $1 for all other students.
